Chapter 1- Who's Shawn Mendes?

Raul Mendes is a Canadian singer and songwriter. He’s 18 years old actually. He
was born on 8th, August
1998 in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. His mother Karen was born in England and is
a real estate agent and his father Manuel, is a business man. He has a younger
sister, Aaliyah who sings too. He grew up in Pickering and went to Pine Ridge
School in Pickering, where he graduated in June 2016. He taught himself guitar
by watching YouTube videos. Besides singing he enjoyed playing ice hockey and
soccer. He gained his popularity when he
began posting song covers in Vine and within a year he was the third
more-followed musician in Vine. Andrew Gertler discovered Shawn online in
November 2013 and signed him with Island Records in January 2014. He officially signed in June 2014 and
released his first single “Life of the Party”.
Shawn toured as a member of the Magcon Tour along other young Viners with a large following on social media. He also was a nationwide tour with Austin Mahone as an opening act. He won a Teen Choice award in 2014 for Web star in Music. On November 6, 2014 he released “Something Big” as his second single. On April 14, 2015 Shawn released his full album Handwritten. His third single “Stitches” reached number one in the UK. He recorded a song called "Believe" for Disney Channel. In 2015 Camila Cabello and Shawn released their collaborative single “I know what you did last summer”. He later announced his second world tour, which will visit North America and Europe, starting in March 2016. Mendes released "Treat You Better", the first single from his second studio album Illuminate, in June 2016 and then “Mercy” as the second single on August 18. Mendes released the live album Live at Madison Square Garden in December 2016.
